Re: Vampire Glamour

The novel gives me the general impression that Eli's had to endure a certain amount of unwelcome physical contact, witness that she ignored drunk Hakan's hand on her thigh when she sat next to him and dumped out his bottle, and that she told Oskar later that people help her for "other reasons" - in...

Re: A Subtle Admission by Eli

I haven't read Carrie , but while it is true Oskar's plight is far less extreme than Eli's, I can see two objective, practical reasons why asking for help isn't a good option: -Nobody likes a snitch. Going to the adults is going to make him more disliked and so on. Hitting back is going to make you...

Re: A Subtle Admission by Eli

The difference that I see between Carrie and Eli is that Carrie always had the means to end her torment before it had built to the point of murderous catharsis. I suppose this was why Stephen King made Carrie's mom such a loon. He was trying to make it believable that Carrie would take all of that ...

Bröderna Djup

I have found a you tube video of Bröderna Djup(Deep brothers) and it sounds like Lindqvist discribes it in the novel (it is the scene, where Oscar is hitch-hiking back to confront Eli with her vampirism). But I do not understand swedish, so scandinavians are welcome. :D

Re: Oskars biggest problem with Eli

1. She lives on blood and doesn't age Elias is a vampire. His father is a werewolf. Oscar loves both. Instead of his father, Elias is available for Oscar and doesn't hurt him in any way. 2. She used to be a boy called Elias. He wouldn't like to be considered as gay. It is embarrassing for him not t...

Re: A flashback to my childhood

This was only shown on German television I assume? I don’t know exactly. It was shown in several countries. The production was shot in Edmonton and it was a co production of Germany & Canada in English language with German dubbing. On this fan site (english version)/ (http://www.gruft-der-vampire.d...

A flashback to my childhood

Hi, I am from Germany and I watched this Film a couple of months ago on DVD. It was a very special experience because the film was a kind of déjà vu for me. I grew up in a suburb of East-Berlin (capital of the former GDR). Toward end of the eighties I saw “The Little Vampire” (1985) on television, a...
