Re: new infected

Welcome :D In the film, Eli definitely looked like a girl. The director, Tomas Alfredson, said that Eli and Oskar should be complementary, like pepper and salt, two sides of a coin. Oskar the hunted one, fair and weak, Eli a predator, dark and strong. So I think Alfredson chose a girl actor for Eli ...

Re: Synopsis for an old friend

[My friend liked the synopsis. I hope you enjoy it.] :) I like the sum up. So in a way you could say the film has too large bandwith for many persons - the tender and uplifting moments drown in the horrific elements. My wife placed herself in that category. And of course you have the large group th...

Just rewatched the scene. After stepping back, you can see Eli reaching for the cassette player again, and then you can hear the volume being reduced. So, I've made up my mind. :)

Re: Lina Speaks! Maybe...?

You see, I guide researchers by helping them get rid of "yes, but" before they waste time on poorly operationalized research questions. Oh, then we are just about brothers in arms. :) This is always the big question: On one hand, not being prejudiced (concluding in advance is not research), on the ...

Re: Lina Speaks! Maybe...?

"Yes but in the book..." I'm a scientist, hobby philosopher and musician, this "yes, but" is just about all I do. And comparing Abby to Eli is pointless. Comparing LTROI to LMI at all is pointless. Different setting, different location, only rudimentary similarities in the story. However, LMI...

Re: Lina Speaks! Maybe...?

I don't want to watch LMI or read the novel. I've watched LMI, and it didn't hurt me or LTROI. I also regard the book and the film a unit. Even if the details differ a bit, the total is identical, to me. and the short story, LTODD. Strangely enough, the Swedish/Norwegian stage play included LTODD. ...

Re: Lina Speaks! Maybe...?

I'm completely mystified why a director who shot a nearly perfect movie would even shoot that particular deleted scene in the first place. Because they did a good deal of tweaking and balancing to get the end result as good as it became. The scene Intrige linked is absolutely stunning, it is perhap...

Re: LGBTQ Thoughts [movie spoilers]

As Intrige says, there is a slight difference between book and film. It is no coincidence that film Eli was played by a girl who looked and moved like a girl. Alfredson wanted Eli and Oskar to be complementary, "two sides of the same coin", where Eli is the strong and dark girl. http://sfi.se/PageFi...

Re: Little things noticed upon re-viewing

One thing that made me smile that I had not really noticed/thought about as it's just a little thing: in the basement scene, when Eli turns on the cassette tape, she jumps back a little bit when it comes on. Just a nice little direction/action that possibly speaks to the fact that this is not a per...
