These are both spot on. I liked how the percussion kicked in at about 3 minutes into the first one.
Shifting gears, I love Pablo Neruda's "Love Sonnet XVII," although I should probably put it in "What are you reading?"

Literally anything from the album Realms by Holy Fawn feels endemic to Eli's experience. From the androgynous vocals to the themes of visualization of the self as a feral force of nature, themes of tragic love, wintery imagery, a sound that reminds me of bands like Of Monsters and Men.

It's funny to go searching the forum and come across this, Holy Fawn is one of my favorite new bands I've recently discovered.

Oh boy, music and LTROI together....
There are many that have been repeated by others; lovesong (and maybe half of The Cure's discography), and many others I agree with. For my own taste, Break my fall by Breaking Benjamin feels pretty tailor made:

Maybe my contribution can be newer music; even stuff popular in 2010 when this thread was created seems ages ago to me (I was 7 in 2010!). Loathe has been making overall great heavy-shoegaze type songs for some time, but Is it really you and two way mirror seem close:

Moodring also makes great shoegazy type stuff, like SYNC.wav, and show me the real you. The former even gets a little body horror in the style of LTROI.

Shoegaze and atmospheric styles of metal work really well in general I think. These are all new(ish) bands, so I hope I help introduce some people to more metal!
